Women who do not have healthy eggs can use one from a generous, fertile young woman who is willing to share her extra eggs with others. Egg donation benefits women experiencing early menopause, who are carriers of genetically-transmitted diseases, or who have not been successful with repeated IVF procedures. The need is great, so we are happy to talk with select donors.

Egg Donor Program

The University OB-GYN egg (oocyte) donor program is looking for women ages 21-32 who are willing to be anonymous donors.

Eggs are taken from the donor after medications have been used to stimulate the ovaries. The embryos formed from these eggs are transferred to the recipient. Close monitoring is provided by blood tests and ultrasounds.

If you are selected as a donor and complete the entire retrieval process, you will receive full compensation for your donation. Egg retrieval is an outpatient procedure. Donors can usually return to work or resume their normal activity in 2 to 3 days.

Some recipient couples are uncomfortable using eggs from an anonymous donor. These couples will recruit a close friend or family member to be their egg donor or gestational carrier if necessary. The age requirement for a known donor is evaluated case by case.

Egg donation gives new hope to women:
• who have premature ovarian failure (early menopause)
• who are over the age 37 (up to age 55 in selected cases)
• who are carriers of genetically transmissible diseases
• who have had repeated failure with in vitro fertilization

For women with these problems, in vitro fertilization (IVF) with egg (oocyte) donation is a highly successful treatment option. The University OB-GYN Associates ART is the largest in the state of Kentucky.
