About insurance

If your insurance requires a referral from your primary care physician, you must obtain it before your visit. If a referral is required and you are unable to obtain it before your appointment, you will be asked to reschedule or to pay for your visit in full.

We do not file all types of insurance and some procedures, such as in vitro fertilization, are not covered by some insurance providers. If you have any questions about your insurance coverage, our Patient Accounts Department will be glad to help you. Call them at (502) 271-5996, 8:00AM - 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.

You should be aware that many health insurance carriers do not offer insurance for IVF. Below are some options for you to help pay for fertility treatments.

  • Attain FertilityThe Attain IVF programs are available at University Women’s HealthCare. Attain IVF provides multiple IVF treatments for a single, discounted fee and increases your chance of success.
  • In addition to your own credit options, we provide access to SpringstoneSM Patient Financing to finance your fertility treatments, including our Attain® IVF Programs.

Infertility Program Patients

When you arrive for your appointment with the physician, you MUST provide written documentation from your health insurance carrier of infertility benefits and coverage.

  • If you do not provide the written documentation of such coverage, you will be expected to pay for the service on the date of your appointment.
  • If you do not have infertility coverage, you will be expected to pay for the service on the date of your appointment.
  • If you are not prepared to pay, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment.
University Women's HealthCare does not accept the responsibility of negotiating claims with insurance companies or other persons. The patient is responsible to University Women's HealthCare for payment of accounts within a reasonable time, regardless of the status of a claim. When a claim is pending or when treatment takes an extended period of time, we will be glad to help you find ways to arrange a payment plan.
